The weekend started out with a Friday test session followed by an all you can eat taco party hosted by Kelly and Martin Lauber at The Wheelhouse in Corte Madera. A huge thank you to the Wheelhouse for helping kick off our weekend.

Saturday morning at the track was ideal: the Hills were Green, the sky clear, the temperature in the 70’s and the racing was good.

Qualifying saw no big surprises…Adam White was on pole again with a 1:43.5 running on Hoosiers. James Hakewell made his first Crossflow appearance of the year qualifying second on the grid. Todd Strong was back with us for the second week in a row rounding out the top three.

In Club Ford, Neil Porter was at 146.51 and Kelly Heil was very close at 146.56, and John Plavan was third with 147.9.

The Saturday afternoon race got off to a fast start with James Hakewell taking the lead followed  by pole sitter Adam White and Todd Strong in third. Greg Hoff was the best of the rest not wanting to let the top three breakaway. It didn’t take Adam long to make up for his start and catch James, but it did take him a couple of laps to make the pass. After that, Adam was in control. James and Todd were in solid second and third with Greg staying close by to keep them honest. On the last lap, as the leaders were coming through traffic in the carousel, things got a little tied up and coming up the hill into 7, Todd made a move on James that didn’t work out. There was contact and they ended up a lap down in 19th and 20th position which elevated the ever persistent Hoff into second and Eric Jones to third. Note, that CSRG made the onsite ruling that Todd could not participate the remainder of the weekend due to the contact.

Club Ford was Kelly Heil on the top step over Neil Porter in second with Christopher Cook making his first appearance on the Podium in his third race ever. The Master Podium was filled with Eric Verdin, Ed VanTassle and Chris Schoap. The Hard Charger award went to first time Crossflow competitor, Ace Robey.

During the mechanical picnic on Saturday we had touching memorial laps in honor of John Streets. Jay and Skip’s dad was well loved in our racing community and it showed with all who participated in the laps. There were cars the length of the track to take one more lap in his memory.

Sunday’s race had a clean start and uninterrupted laps.  Adam showed incredible pace from the pole and once again took the checkered. Kelly Heil, James Hakewill, Greg Hoff, and John Plavan Jr. rounded out the top 5. Eric Jones, who had a transponder issue in qualifying, made up 16 places to take the hard charger award
